Pearsall warned against a recent trend that’s been seen of people holding rings and selling them to willing buyers. “Some people share and become friends,” Pearsall said. Sometimes, however, there’s a happy ending. There was a physical fight over a pit last October, he remembered. “It’s just crazy what people will do for a fire ring on the beach.” It isn’t worth getting into a verbal or physical dispute, he said, “but, I will say every year, we have both.” Someone else might come in and set up their own bonfire party, if no one is around to fend them off. “The biggest thing we have is people coming early, dumping some stuff there, putting some personal items there and assuming that’s ownership of a fire ring,” Pearsall said.
